Picture Of The Week 05-17-10

Notes: Spring migration has brought a bounty of warblers to my little backyard birdbath this spring. I am truly blessed. Just when I thought that most of these avian travelers had passed by, I was treated to this four inch long gem of a warbler. When I first saw the green cap of two little birds splashing in the water, I jumped from my chair, hoping to get a good photo or two. But, the pair of Chestnut-sided's had apparently been bathing for a while before I noticed them. They were very soaked (left). Soon one flew off and then after a few minutes, the other departed as well. My hopes were "dampened". Then, a few minutes later, another Chestnut-sided Warbler appeared! Fortunately, I still had my camera set-up with the remote shutter trigger and I was able to capture a few images of this striking creature. The peak of spring migration has passed, but a few birds are still lingering behind and I find myself looking forward to next spring already.
