Where: Richmond, VA • Byrd Park Notes: Signs of spring? When flora and fauna are together it makes for a vibrant photo opportunity. As spring returns the rich new greens spread across the landscape and colorful flowers begin to bloom. Add in even the most common bird to the bouquet and it livens the scene even more. Many associate the return of the American Robin to their budding yards evidence that spring is on its way. Although the appearance of a robin is considered a sign of the new season, this bird actually spends the winter in much of its breeding range. But, because they spend more time in large flocks during the winter months and less time in yards, you're much less likely to see them in the winter. So, if you see one in the winter, you are likely to see many.
