Where: Chincoteague, VA • Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Notes: As spring temperatures bring warmth to our region, most waterfowl and some songbirds will be departing. They will return to the north for the breading season. Warm brown backgrounds in photos like this one will be replaced by brilliant greens, colorful blooms and blue skies. Although the newness of spring renews my hope and spirit for the upcoming year, I can't help to be a little saddened as some of our winter visitors depart. They will be back in the fall when the frost and fall colors return. I am already looking forward to their return.
