Cedar Waxwing

Where: Richmond, VA • Pony Pasture Section of James River Park Notes: I never get tired off seeing and photographing these gorgeous birds. The softness of how their buff brown heads fades into their yellow belly is as if it was airbrushed. Waxwings are one of the few temperate dwelling birds that can survive on fruit alone for several months. They most often travel in flocks and I usually hear their high pitched "wheezy" call before I see them. Once I know some are nearby I start looking for fruit bearing trees or bushes, because That is where they are most likely to be next.
