Where: Chesapeake Bay, VA • Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Notes: If I gave titles to pictures I'd call this one, "dessert." On our return trip from Chincoteague, Virginia my partner and I decided to eat lunch at island number one on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Since is was such a warm day, we set up a picnic in the parking lot with the breeze at our backs. After finishing a leisurely meal I took one last look over the fence before we left. From behind the rocks, directly in from of me appeared a Brant; then another came into view and then another. Finally there were more than a dozen of these small geese of about twenty two inches that resemble a small Canada Goose. They too were having lunch as they pulled at the aquatic plants attached to the surrounding rocks. It is not often that I see these delicate creatures, so this was a real treat.
