Where: Kiptopeke, VA • Kiptopeke State Park Notes: Having the subject not just active, but appearing relaxed, makes an image more appealing and natural feeling. This fortunate shot was in the soft morning light. The bird was one out of a small flock of about a dozen of these common sandpipers. I often prefer to isolate a single bird out of a group when possible. To me, this makes for better composition and focus. I also like the low view point of this photo.
