American Goldfinch

Where: Highland County, VA • Near Blue Grass, VA Notes: This is a result of observing behavior, on the was repeated over and over. Finding a birds favorite perch is another way that I often get close-up shots. In this case I had seen several of these finches land on a specific twig on top of this eight foot tall Red Ceder tree. There were other places I had seem them land, but I liked the color and texture of this perch. I set up the camera only eight feet away and used a remote to trigger the shutter. Within a half an hour I had this shot.
