Pine Warbler
(Dendroica pinus)

Where: Chesterfield, VA • Pocahontas State Park Notes: This Pine Warbler was searching around the small twigs and undergrowth on the eastern hillside of the deciduous forest that surrounds Beaver Lake in the late afternoon. I have hardly ever seen this species much less than forty or fifty feet off the ground before. They are usually high up in a tall pine trees in my experience. This encounter was a reminder to me that Spring is rising from the coldness of still winter. This photo was taken yesterday, Easter Sunday. I choose to believe this was His gift to me that day and is now my privilege to share this image today with others who appreciate these precious creatures.
