Notes: Fall brings many migrants and even the local waterfowl, such as Mallards, increase in population during this time of year. This shot was captured at one of my favorite "city parks" where the .75 mile path around the Echo Lake makes for the perfect morning bird walk. I noticed a pair of Mallards was feeding along the Alder Bushes on the opposite shore at the narrowing head of the lake. As my walk put me parallel to them, the male began to raise and bob its head up and down, indicating it was nervous about my presence and would probably soon take flight. So I increased the ISO and shutter speed, plus changed the focus mode for an action shot. Then just as I anticipated, they took off to the right where the safety of the main lake awaited. I managed to get off about five or six shots before they were too far past only one of which was centered and in focus.
