Golden-crowned Kinglet (Female)
Where: Henrico County, VA • Three Lakes Park
Equipment: Canon EOS D20 with 100-400mm Zoom L Series Lens with Image Stabilizer • Hand Held
Exposure: Shutter Speed = 1/400 • Aperture = f 5.6 • Exposure Mode = Aperture Priority • Lens (Focal) Length = 370 • ISO = 400 • Aprox. Camera Distance = ~5 Feet • Date Shot: 11-05-06
Notes: I have often seen small pockets of Kinglets foraging for food along ground level thickets in the early morning. This female Golden-crowned Kinglet made it worth getting up and enduring that chilly fall morning though. Photographing these tiny birds is challenging not just because of their size (3.5" head to tail), but even more so because they don't sit still for hardly a moment! That are an essay in motion!
